How to set up your own clinical study

Due to high demand, AOSpine is running a study set up course in collaboration with AO Clinical Investigation and Documentation (AOCID). The course will be held on

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

08.00 – 18.00

in Buenos Aires at the
Sheraton Hotel & Convention Center
(same location as the Global Spine Congress)

This course is designed for practicing surgeons interested in the theory and practicalities of conducting clinical research. Participants need to submit their own idea for a clinical investigation as these research proposals will be worked on as an integral part of the course.

The overall objective of this course is to introduce the participants to theoretical principles of clinical research, and some practical tools to conduct studies. Emphasis is placed on equipping participants with sufficient knowledge to begin a small scale clinical study, with the clear caveat that clinical research requires a broader knowledge base than can be covered in this short course. The information is presented in a classroom setting with the opportunity to participate in written exercises and group work.

Our speakers are a trained pediatric surgeon specializing in pediatric traumatology and an entrepreneur with many years of experience in the pharmaceutical and CRO industry. Both have over 15 years of operational experience in international clinical research.
