The AOSpine Latin America Faculty Education Program (FEP) took place for the first time in Santiago, Chile, from April 5‒6, 2017. The course was co-chaired by Asdrubal Falavigna (BR) and Juan Emmerich (AR) and the educator was Fabiana Reboiras (AR).

The participants came from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile and totaled 11 people. Each participant provided very positive feedback about the course, and stated that the highlight for them was how much they were able to improve their teaching and educational skills.

According to AOSpine Latin America Chairman Asdrubal Falavigna, “professional development never really ends for those wanting to teach successful surgery, and is instead a career-long pursuit to improve our roles as course Faculty.”

"Faculty development programs related to teaching strategies (ie, FEP and CEP) are an essential effort to expand participants' understanding of instructional concepts and teaching processes in spine surgery, and are made available through the great efforts of AOSpine Latin America."

The next Chairperson Education Program (CEP) will be held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 20–21, 2017.
