As communicated in spring earlier this year, the AO Faculty Development Alignment Project has reached its goal by aligning all Faculty Development Programs to create a common pathway for all AO faculty members.
This process led to a renewed submission of our Faculty Education Program (FEP) to the EACCME to evaluate an increase of CME accreditation points; a FEP had so far received 9 credit points.
The AO Foundation is delighted to inform you that after fruitful discussions with the accreditation office (EACCME) in Brussels, the FEP has been re-evaluated inclusive of the pre- and postcourse online activities and has been valued higher than previously as the FEP is now recognized as a blended learning activity, receiving 18 additional points; therefore receiving a total of 27 points, starting in 2017.
Shortly, the AO Education Institute will go through the same application process with the aim to have the Chairperson Education Program (CEP) and possibly the new Leader Education Program (LEP) recognized as blended learning activities. We will be reporting back with updates on this process in our next FacultyFocus in 2017.
The focus of the CME implementation process is currently on Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), however the AO Education Institute continues to invest in other regions and their CME processes.
