Collaboration between AOSpine and the Hellenic Spine Society
AOSpine Europe and Southern Africa has always had an interest in collaborating with new and/or well-established local societies. With roots in their respective communities, both AOSpine and these societies can benefit from synergizing and sharing mutual interests. The first collaboration with the Hellenic Spine Society took place in 2013.
The Hellenic Spine Society (HSS) describes itself as a multidisciplinary scientific association with the aim of promoting spine care in Greece and neighboring countries. The idea of creating a national spine organization began in 2006, and the same year the Hellenic Spine Society was officially founded. In 2006, the young organization’s first general assembly took place, and already by the end of 2007, the doors were opened for the first Hellenic Annual Spine Conference with a multidisciplinary approach covering all aspects of spine care.
The latest collaboration between the Greek society and AOSpine took place in November 2017. AOSpine was honored to accept the invitation to attend the conference and to run a symposium as part of the scientific program. Over 50 participants joined the conference workshops, followed by two days of lectures, case discussions and debates on the latest topics of spine surgery. The AOSpine session on Junction and Fusion was chaired by Athanasios Spiliotopoulos from Thessaloniki.
