Practical Sessions
The daily practical exercise sessions range from a minimum of 45 minutes to a maximum of 90 min, with the following topics: Adult Defomity, Cervical Degenerative, Lumbar Degenerative, Trauma, Tumors and Infections.

For surgeons wanting to develop extra skills in use of the operating microscope, and who are keen to gain greater proficiency in lumbar decompression and instrumentation on artificial bones and simulated specimen, AOSpine is introducing a new educational highlight at this year's Davos Courses – the Advanced Level Simulated Bioskills Course.

Davos Courses Director Mike Grevitt says: "Featuring state-of-the-art simulation models with realistic anatomy and intraoperative bleeding system, the latest microscopes and real instruments, the Advanced Level Bioskills-Course will set new standards in practical learning and let the participants experience the newest innovations in practice. The course will also include blended learning with pre-course online learning resources, virtual tutorials and access to practical videos, didactic sessions with ample time for discussion to ensure that the participants will gain the most from their time in Davos. All this is combined with world renowned faculty and AO teaching principles."
This course aims for surgeons to develop their skills in minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), focusing on microsurgical decompression and fusion procedures for treating degenerative conditions of the spine, and to perform safe neural manipulation. Complex surgical exposures in various regions of the spine are emphasized, including biomechanical considerations, the surgery decision-making process, and the management of complications. Through intensive, 1:1 hands-on sessions at the bioskill simulator, participants will engage in surgical techniques and strategies for a range of procedures.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course, participants will be better able to:
• Perform safe entry into the lumbar spinal canal, manipulation of the dura and nerve roots, and discectomy
• Carry out the operative steps in microsurgical decompression of the lumbar spine
• Carry out the operative steps in fusion procedures in the lumbar spine, especially TLIF
• Manage complications and repair a durotomy
With a 3:1 ratio between faculty and participants, the teaching level will be exceptionally high. Led by experienced faculty and key opinion leaders, the course provides a forum for exposure to the latest cutting edge techniques used for spinal reconstruction.
Target Audience:
The Advanced Level Simulated Bioskills course is designed specifically for advanced level spine surgeons with five years or more experience in spine surgery. Course A is already sold out, hurry up to secure your place in Course B!
Participants who attend will also have the opportunity to observe the Davos Courses Masters Level modules, and interact with world-renowned spine experts in the field of spine surgery.
