It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the September issue of the AOSpine Newsletter–the first since I took on the role as AOSpine International Chairperson in July, 2015. I aim to take AOSpine to the next level by implementing an approach which makes our activities more transparent, more accessible, fairer, measurable and more efficient. You can read more about my vision for AOSpine here.
In this issue, we discuss quality control and metrics in surgical practice and we ask: does cell transplantation therapy hold the key to spinal cord regeneration? Each story features interviews with highly experienced spine surgeons, who share their views on these important emerging topics. What do you think? We’d love to hear your views on the stories in this issue and the newsletter in general, too.
It's an exciting time at AOSpine, as we launch our mentorship programs. We also bring you news about our latest Knowledge Forum Deformity study and share our Global Spine Journal podcasts.
I hope you find this issue interesting and informative and I look forward to bringing you the next issue in the fall.
With best wishes,
Dan Riew
Chairperson, AOSpine International
